In a video recorded by Onua television, it appears It is unclear where he is being kept as operatives almost run company executives on the road in an attempt to follow the convoy of unmarked vehicles that whisked him away from the Kawukudi office of NIB.
The hard-talking broadcaster was picked up Wednesday, October 19. It is believed that his arrest is in connection with his comments about the ineffectiveness of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s fight against galamsey so far.
His whereabout is currently unknown as Ghanaians take to social media to show their distasteful disagreement as to why he was arrested.
Many believe press freedom is losing its ground as whoever appears to be vocal on matters by tagging personalities gets the attention of the security services in diverse ways.
Here are the reactions from Ghanaians:
• Whoever talks about insults here should forget, this is not the first time a president is being insulted unless you want to tell me that some presidents are more Ghanaians than others. Let us stop the hypocrisy.
• Right now in Ghana there's nothing like freedom and justice. Ghana at moment is practicing dirty democracy. It's soo much pathetic.
• John Mahama is indeed a great leader who accepts criticisms of all kinds, and nonsense talks from but takes it in good faith and corrects what he thought was indeed wrong. A father for all. The media houses, and communicators did worse to him than we see now.
• This level of attacks on journalists is unprecedented since the inception of the fourth republic. Is the power of this Nana Addo Bawumia lead government different from that of Rawlings, Kufuor, Atta Mills, and Mahama? Mr. President, you have got to ask your security to stop this.
