General news for all Ghanaians on fire safety especially for all workplaces, from the Ghana National Fire Service.

Fire safety should still be your primary concern, regardless of the sort of business you perform at your office. These are measures businesses should put in place to avoid fire:

1.Keep your work area free of rubbish, waste paper, and other flammable materials.

2.Be sure the electrical cables are in good shape. Fix any cords that have been broken in any way. Avoid laying cords in areas where they may be stepped on, since this would cause the safe outer coating to deteriorate.

3.The circuits at your workplace should not be overloaded.

4.At the end of each day, switch off all electrical equipment.

5.Heat-generating devices should be kept away from something that could catch fire. Copiers, coffee machines, computers, and other similar items that fall under this category.

6.Contact the nearest fire department for a proper fire extinguisher, and have them show you how to use it and where to put it in the workplace.

Please share this information for the benefit of all Ghanaians for prevention of fire outbreaks.
