Check Out Oppong Nkrumah’s Brilliant Reply When Told That The EIU Has predicted An NDC Win In 2024.

Early this week it was reported that the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has predicted that the NDC will win the 2024 elections. The revelation was based on the trend in Ghana where a party loses office after every 8 years. The research team also predicted that the NDC might change their flagbearer though it wasn’t certain that John Mahama will step down.

In a Minister’s Press Conference today, Sunday, March 21, 2021, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Information addressed the public on a number of issues. One of the interesting responses was when a journalist asked what the ruling government thinks about the EIU’s report on the NDC winning the next elections.

“I am one of those who believe that words matter. I have not seen the EIU predict victory for the NDC. I have a print out of their risk assessment. Our assessment is that they are guiding notes, nothing more. We use them to inform the work we do. Don’t just read the news headline. Read the report itself.

If you follow them they are talking about an 8-year alternation and they expect that to continue. They are not predicting. They are just following what happens. We are aware of this of this tendency and we intend to retain the confidence of the people and break this 8-year cycle. This is not a prediction” Oppong Nkrumah said.

According to him the Unit made reports previously that didn’t come to pass and the report is just using past situations to suggest what might happen in the future. He charged journalists to read details and not headlines in order not to make loose assumptions Can we conclude that the EIU is just following normal trends?
