Priceless Moments: Bawumia's 58th Birthday In Pictures

For someone as the Vice President of Ghana H.E Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to celebrate his fifty-eighth (58) birthday with the socially marginalized persons with leprosy, makes the greatest of a headline news. Humbled to the atom of his making, Dr. Bawumia never bothered about his pride but the joy he would bring to these adults and young people who have been abandoned by their families becuase of their incurable condition.

He made so much difference with his 58th birthday dining with these people at the Weija Leprosarium today. The smiles were abundant and one could tell the Vice President shared in their joy.

This probably could be the best treat patients at the Weija Leprosarium have ever had in years. Arguably, he is the very first among Vice Presidents Ghana has ever had, who has forgone a celebration with party people and the comfort and luxury of a party for a birthday at such a milestone, to celebrate with people with leprosy.

The joy this woman had meeting the Vice President is epic. Dr. Bawumia held her to his chest in a soft hug towards her. Even before the cake was cut, this old woman with leprosy walked towards the cake and dip her hand to have her first taste.

She could have been rebuked for that but the Vice President was amused by her attitude. He smiled uncontrollably as he pulled her over towards him. The old woman was excited about this and held tightly to him.

It is evident in his generosity how Dr Bawumia treats the aged. He had made great sacrifices to out smiles on the faces of the vulnerable and socially marginalized.

This perhaps gives great meaning to his life, and at this age it is momentous sharing the happiness of his greatness with such people.

To climax it, Dr Bawumia and his wife, the Second Lady H.E Samira Bawumia manned the tables to serve participants of his birthday at the Weija Leprosarium. This signified true stewardship, as the leader shouldn't be served but must serve his people.

Happy birthday Dr. Bawumia.
