How Come Ghana's Cedi Is The Worst Hit Globally By The Effects Of Covid And Ukraine/Russia War?

A Journalist and a former Manager at Airtel Ghana, Raymond Ablorh has quizzed the Ghana Cedi is the worst hit globally by the effects of Covid and Ukraine/Russia war.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, 18th October 2022, he wrote;

"Didn't our lecture hall Economic Wizkid tell us that it's in time of crisis that the resilience of an economy can be tested?

Didn't he tell us that global phenomenon couldn't jump our neighbours to attack Ghana severely as if it's directed to us?"

Raymond asked that what has changed? He argued that had the people of Sri Lanka not chased out their Nana Akufo-Addo-like government, their currency would be doing worse than Ghana's.

"They never allowed their clueless and super incompetent slumbering president and his men to hide under Covid and Ukraine/Russia war while they suffered worse than refugees in their own country." He added.

Background

The comments of Ablorh comes following Bloomberg publication that the Ghana cedi is now the worst performing currency in the world. This comes amidst ongoing negotiation with the IMF for a bailout.
