He stated that the president in his life as a member of Parliament up to his ministerial position has never taken ex-gratia for serving the nation.
“There are certain things that made me love Nana Addo. Nana Addo never took the MP’s Common Fund, and he used his resources to lobby for projects in his constituency Nana Addo never took ex-gratia as MP and a Minister; he said the government should use the money where it is needed". Captain Smart disclosed.
He also noted that apart from not collecting the ex-gratia, Nana Akuffo Addo also refused government vehicles. This shows an example of good leadership and patriotism.
“Nana rejected governments cars when he was Minister for Justice and Attorney General and Foreign Affairs Minister; he bought his fuel. He made the government scrap the maintenance allowance on his salary”. He added.
This follows the criticism by Adom Otchere criticizing Togbe Afede for refusing to take the ex-gratia that was given to him.
Mr. Togbe Afede demonstrated integrity and loyalty to Ghanaian citizens but has been opposed and criticized by many people including Adom Otchere for not accepting the ex-gratia.
Togbe Afede is not the first person to reject the ex-gratia so why this critic from Otchere?
I think we as "Citizens and not spectators" should learn from what Togbe Afede has done for the nation's development.
