Joy FM, the Multimedia Group and its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kwasi Twum, have announced decision to sue the Member of Parliament Assin Central Constituency, Hon. Ken Agyepong and six others for defamation.
The six are: the media organization of the MP, three employees from his media organization and two online publications.
In July, the newly appointed Board Chair of Ghana Gas Limited accused Multimedia group of demanding money from the New Patriotic Party and government as well as several other claims about the its CEO, among which was that he set up Joy FM with money accrued from sales of drugs.
According to the Group, the broadcasts and publications falsely sought to portray Joy FM, The Multimedia Group and its CEO as unethical, unprofessional and criminal.
“In the month of July 2021, the MP for Assin Central constituency, Kennedy Agyepong made and repeated false and defamatory statements on his media platform”, the Group said.
“Joy FM, The Multimedia Group and the Chief Executive Officer, Kwasi Twum have been compelled and have taken a decision to afford the MP, his media organization and three of his employees , the opportunity to prove the allegations in court”, it said.
Additionally, “two other online publications that circulated the outright falsehoods without care or any attempt to verify the allegations” have also will be sued.
