Ghana’s Covid-19 cases keep soaring by the day. The country which had less active cases by the beginning of the year has suddenly got multiple cases. As it stands now the active cases stand at 7, 850 and the death toll at 542.
The country has also imposed some restriction but it seems the spike in cases keeps soaring. On ‘Ekosii Sen’ on Asempa FM. Osei Bonsu quizzed Minister designate for Information about Ghana’s Covid-19 status.
“Our numbers as at now is not encouraging. We have about 7,800 plus active cases. We are not happy at the current situation. Our average per day is 700 cases. The reasons for the spikes have caused some restrictions but people still keep flouting the measures. The new variants are more deadly than the first type. We will continue to sensitize and advice citizens.
This is the time that we expected people to be more careful, but this hasn’t happened. The new strain is taking so many lives. The president will be meeting with his task force so that based on that they release the new measures. The news am getting look gloom. People need to take the advice seriously” Oppong Nkrumah said.
What should be some of the measures the country should develop to arrest the death toll and case spikes? Are some of the figures being massaged? Are citizens the cause of the high cases? Share your thoughts.
