Although the agitations of the general public against payment of salary to the wives of the President and his Vice has forced both the First Lady and the Second Lady Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Mrs Samira Bawumia respectively to refund allowances that have been paid to them since the date their husbands gets into office, it seems netizens are curious to know what these two women use their moneyy for. Unfortunately for Mrs Bawumia, this has started from her.
In a trending photo that is circulating on the internet, a bag has been captured in the office of the Second Lady. A photo which is believed to taken legitimately has captured a pink trunk under a table in the office of the Second Lady.
Many people might be thinking why should an ordinary trunk be trending on the internet as if it is something more serious. But indeed the pink trunk in the office has so many things to reveal.
The trunk which is identified as Louis Vuitton Trunk is a legendary trunk that was invented in 1858. The quality of this trunk has made it one of the luxurious trunks in the world.
Taking the cost of this trunk into consideration, this trunk costs about $68,000 to $70,000 which is a huge sum of money in Ghana Cedi. In Ghana Cedi, the trunk will be costing Gh¢ 403,240.00 to Gh¢ 415,100.00 respectively.
The price of the trunk has raised a lot of controversies to the extent some social media users think the women in question are not using their money well for that matter they should not have to be paid.
In a tweet from the Northern Reginal Treasure of the biggest opposition (NDC) Hajia Shamini, she lamented about the cost of the trunk.
“This trunk is Lui Vuitton - it cost about $70,000. If you convert this money into cedis it'll be a whopping 4 billion old currency. These are the kind of things they spend our money on & still expect us to pay them salaries", she stated.
Many social media users are alleging that the trunk only contains makeup materials and tools.
