King of Gonjaland has assured new Savanna Regional Minister, Hon. Saeed Muaz Jibreel, of his unwavering support especially as he takes over the running of the affairs of a region that is barely three – years old.
Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa I has also called on sons and daughters of Gonjaland to rally behind the new minister, saying the work that lies ahead for the new region was enormous, hence the need for all and sundry to come on board and support the efforts of Hon. Muaz Jibril.
The King made this assurance following a courtesy call on him by the minister and his entourage at the Jakpa Palace in Damongo.
Hon. Saeed Muaz Jibril until his appointment as the Savanna regional Minister was the DCE for West Gonja and his visit to the Palace was to formally share the good news of his promotion and to solicit the blessings of the King as he takes over the management of the region.
Spelling out his plan for the area, the minister told the Jakpa King that his main focus was to fight illegal mining and logging of trees, two issues that have bedeviled the area for decades and continue to exert devastating tolls on the environment.
He revealed that the regional coordinating council will soon roll-out a program which will see the registration and issuance of license to galamsey operatives in order to streamline their activities, a step the minister said will save the environment and help raise revenue for development.
Among the ministers entourage on his visit to the King was the Regional Coordinating Director, MMDCEs in the region, Heads of various security agencies, staff of RCC and members of the media.
