Dorcas Affo Toffey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, has been ordered detained by a Sekondi High Court.

After the Jomoro Member of Parliament (MP) failed to appear before the court on December 6, this year, Justice Sedinam Agbemava issued a bench warrant.

Prior to running for office in the 2020 general election, the MP was accused of having dual citizenship. As a result, Joshua Emuah Kofie of Nuba-Mpataba in the Jomoro Constituency filed a contempt charge against the MP.

Madam Toffey was directed by the Court to provide and deposit documents demonstrating that she had renounced her putative Ivorian citizenship in the issue at hand.

She did, however, petition a stay of execution, which the Court dismissed.
