Prez. Akuffo Addo can not blame Covid - 19 for Ghana's economic problems -Seth Terkper

Honourable Seth Terkper the former Minister for Finance has stated that the current problem of Ghana's economy is not a result of the deadly COVID -19 pandemic.

He stated that the economy of Ghana was already weak and tattered before the arrival of the Corona Virus pandemic and so the Government should stop pointing hand at it as a cause.

Speaking on CITI TV on Thursday, March 18, 2021, the Former Minister for Finance made it clear that it looks like the Government of Ghana is always using the Corona Virus as an excuse for the poor economy of this country.

But he wants to make it clear that, Corona Virus is not the cause. The country's economy was suffering a pot of woes before the corona virus pandemic arrived.

" Listening to some of the speeches from President and his Government, they speak as if the economy of Ghana was strong and everything was in order before COVID - 19 came.

But I want to make it clear that, the economy of Ghana was suffering woes before the Corona Virus pandemic arrived in Ghana.""

According to the Former Minister, such claims are totally not true and so Government should be clear to the citizens of Ghana that he was not successful in stabilizing the economy.

The care taker Minister for Finance, Honourable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu during the 2021 budget said the fiscal impact of COVID - 19 caused an amount of GHC 19.7 billion.

He said the before the COVID - 19 pandemic, the country was on a rise from 2017 to 2020 in various areas such as Gross Product (GDP) macroeconomic stability and development programs.
