Communication member of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akomea has told host of good morning Ghana show, Randy Abby that government has really shown that they are supposed to appoint on 19 ministers after Nana Akufo-Addo submits 19 cabinet ministers to parliament yesterday.
Nana Akomea stated that he thinks this is what the constitution mean when it said Government should appoint ministers because all the past Government has bleach the constitution and said it has become their practice including the current government.
According to him, it is mandatory to select only 19 cabinet ministers but Presidents have been misusing or misinterpreting the constitution.
He told Randy Abby that this have disclosed that Ghana should have only 19 ministers working for the country in each Government.
Nana Akomea was not happy with president Nana Akufo-Addo for leaving some special ministries aside like Communication and said the ministers were selected based on gender and personality which he thought is not good for the country.
He stated that he served in Government before and he know what he is talking about because at the cabinet meetings, cabinet ministers only discuss things but they don't vote on issue to decide which side win or which decision they should choose to implement for the people.
" Randy this is a bleach of the constitution. They have been doing this for long time including this Government. This tell us that we are supposed to have 19 ministers and they should be cabinet ministers but i think that one has been misinterpreted by them.
They don't vote there. They only discuss things and take decision. Why should they removed some ministry like Communication which is a key to the public?
I won't mention name but i think this cabinet is selected based on gender and personality when i recalled what happened to me at ministry of tourism"- he told Randy Abby on the show today.
