Do Whatever You Want With The Country, We Are Tired-Nana Addo Told

Saturday, 4th December 2021

The 37th edition of Farmers Day yesterday was celebrated in Cape Coast, the central regional capital.

Giving the key note address, President Akufo Addo announced that his government had given clearance to the ministry of Food and Agriculture to recruit additional agric extension workers. He said 50% of the over 1,000 will be engaged in 2022 while the remaining will be spread over time.

As usual of him, the President took to social media to announce this package.

'I am happy to inform you that approval has been given by cabinet for the recruitment of an additional number of one thousand, one hundred (1,100) veterinary officers into the ministery of food and agriculture", he wrote on twitter

Unexpectedly, the president was given a very harsh response from one of his followers on social media by name Angel Fiifi Sconi. He replied that the president can do whatever he wants with the nation because Ghanaians were tired.

"Bro, whatever you want to do with the country, go ahead wai, na we are tired", Fiifi retorted.

From the tone of the response, it is clear the youth in Ghana are fed up with leadership for the promises without action.

Unemployment remains the number one challenge in Ghana. Many have described the high unemployment rate as a national security crisis.

The finance minister announced during a graduation ceremony at UPSA that the public sector was full. He urged the students to consider venturing into entrepreneurship after training instead of looking for public sector jobs.

It is estimated that every year, about 250,000 graduates from the various public and private tertiary institutions are added to the unemployed figures in the country. Meanwhile there is no clear cut program to engage this huge numbers.

But that doesn't in anyway warrant the disrespectful comment by Fiifi to the president. What do you think? Was he right in his response? Take to comments section to share your thoughts.
