The member of Parliament for Tamale North constituency, Hon Alhassan Suhuyini has revealed that majority leader, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu was not comfortable with Hon Asiedu Nketia's appointment to the parliamentary service board.
The member of parliament speaking on Metro TV morning show today stated that when the Speaker of parliament appoints former member of parliament for Seikwa constituency, Hon Asiedu Nketia to be part of the parliamentary service board, Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu protested because of Asiadu Nketia's Political affliction as general secretary of NDC and how vocal he is on political issues in the country.
According to him, it was the reason why the speaker of Parliament was very frustrated and disappointed in parliament yesterday, and called on member of parliament for Banda Constituency, Hon Ahmed Ibrahim to raise the issue on the floor of the house.
He also stated that it was based on some personal reasons that's why the majority leader in parliament refused to accept Asiedu Nketia's appointment easily.
He noted that his appointment is fair and he will bring many things to the table for parliamentary service board because he had been former member of parliament who is well known in the Political space.
" The appointment delayed because of majority Leader. Majority leader was not very comfortable with Asiedu Nketia's appointment. This has frustrated the speaker and let MP for Banda constituency, Hon Ahmed Ibrahim to raised the issue in parliament. You know that on parliamentary service board, the law states that we should have two former MPs on the board but the speaker was protesting because Asiadu Nketia being the general secretary of the NDC, and also a former MP at the same time will have some political impact on behalf of NDC. It was based on some personal issues against Asiadu Nketia but his appointment is fair and he will bring many things to the board" he said.
