Nothing Comes For Free, I Passed Through All These Before I Became The Speaker Of Parliament

Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin was born on 24 September 1957 .He is a Ghanaian politician who is currently the  speaker of parliament. He was the minister of health in the Ghana government from January 2012 until February 2013 when Hanny-Sherry Ayittey took over the position. He served as the Member of Parliament for Nadowli west  constituency in the Upper West Region of Ghana in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th parliaments of the 4th republic . On 7 January 2021 Bagbin was elected Speaker of 8th Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

Before he succeeded to become the Speaker of parliament , he passed through a lot of difficulties . He was first elected into Parliament during the 1992 election . He then announced his intentions to run for president in 2008 on the NDC ticket, and as the saying goes " Man propose and God Dispose" , he never stood for the primaries. But in exchange of his request from God , He became the Majority Leader in parliament in 2009.

Following a cabinet reshuffle in January 2010, he was appointed Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing by President Mills. He continued to be the Majority Leader of Parliament under President Mahama's tenure of office, at the end of his difficulties in parliament , he served as the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament from January 2017 to January 2021.

Until he was finally sworn in on 7 January 2021, after a well drawn out contest, after he was nominated by the Ghanaian Members of Parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress. He did that by defeating his incumbent , Mike Oquaye in the Speaker's election.
