Ghanaian Actress and television host, Jocelyn Dumas has finally talked about the ongoing national conversation about the Electronic Levy Bill, also known as E-levy. She has given her verdict on the Levy.

The Electronic Levy Bill was first introduced in Parliament when the Finance Minister was reading the budget statement for 2022 on the 17th of November 2021. The Levy meant that the government will deduct 1.75 percent of any amount one sends to the other electronically.

Since its introduction, the Levy has seen stiff opposition from Ghanaians. The Minority in Parliament has rejected the bill anytime it appeared in Parliament. The last time they rejected it was on January 28, 2022, even after the government reduced the rate of the bill from 1.75 percent to 1.50 percent.

A lot of Ghanaian celebrities have talked about the controversial E-levy and whether or not it should be accepted. The latest Ghanaian celebrity to speak about the Levy is Jocelyn Dumas. She questioned the accountability of taxes paid in the past by Ghanaians because she feels that's the only way Ghanaians will be willing to pay more taxes to the government.

In various tweets by Jocelyn speaking on the E-levy, she questioned what the numerous taxes we've been paying went and why we should be paying E-levy at hard times like this.

" We are being taxed for so many things, utilities, bills, goods and services, company and cooperation, GRA, etc... So where does the money go? Yet we owe. Then E-levy, in such obviously hard times?" She quizzed on her official Twitter handle.

She also said in another tweet that the country is so blessed in so many ways but yet we've got nothing to show.

Do you agree with the concerns of Joycelyn Dumas on the E-levy?

Do you think the taxes we've paid in the past have not been properly accounted for?
