We will Fight Him With His Own Weapon - Kojo Oppong Nkrumah

In the coming days the country will witness one of the landmark cases of our time as Lithur comes against the law firms of Amenuvor and Akufo-Addo, Prempeh and Co. The best legal brains will battle it out in the election petition filed by former president, John Mahama against the Electoral Commissioner and President Akufo-Addo.

In an interview today, January 11, 2021, on ‘Ekosii Sen’, former Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, spokesperson for Akufo-Addo on the election petition and MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi opened up on the tactics the NPP will employ to cause John Mahama’s defeat. In an interview with Osei Bonsu, he talked about the errors in the petition.

“John Mahama’s basis for the petition is all centered around the verbal slip of the Electoral Commissioner in announcing the right figures. They have no facts to buttress their case.

John Mahama claims that the EC boss made an error and yet this same John Mahama has written to the Supreme Court and is asking to make amendments for his errors. What does he expect to happen? The same stick used in caning one person will be used for another.

He will fall by his own arguments. He should get prepared because he has no facts for his arguments. When the case starts you will see how he will be dribbled by the lawyers. We have even raised preliminary arguments against the petition. It should be dismissed.”

It will be interesting in the coming days as pretrial will begin with lawyers from both sides introducing their arguments before the jury.

Is John Mahama guilty of the same thing he seeks to correct. Can we compare the errors in his petition to the errors that the EC made?
