Nana Addo abandoned inherited projects to prevent the NDC from getting the credit; Mahama declares

Ex-president John Dramani Mahama has said the Nana Addo-led government has abandoned projects they inherited from his government to prevent the National Democratic Congress from taking credit for those projects. John Dramani Mahama, said this in an interview with Global 105.1 FM in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital, as part of his thank-you tour of the Volta Region. The former President pointed out that, the New Patriotic Party abandoned all Government of Ghana projects that were started under his government. Concerning world bank projects, John Dramani Mahama said, the projects have been taken from contractors who were executing them because they are deemed NDC contractors and given to other contractors.

According to John Dramani Mahama, his government envisaged the pressure that the Free Senior High School policy would bring, and as a result, decided to start the Community Day Schools to ease the pressure on the Senior High School. This is also to prevent students from traveling to the boarding school before accessing senior high school.

The 2020 flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress further stressed that it is unfortunate that some of the Community Day Schools started under his government were completed but are left to rot while students are overcrowded in the Senior High School, with the senior high schools running double-track system.

He bemoaned that, the money for these abandoned projects did not come from him or his vice-president, but state resources. For him, it is unfortunate that the projects are left to rot.

"....It was a deliberate policy to abandon the projects because then the credit goes to the previous government. But then the point I am making is the money we used for these projects is not my money, it didn't come out of my pocket, it didn't come out Amissah Arthur pocket, it comes out of any of my Minister's pocket", he said.
