Nicknamed as ‘Napo’ in political circles, the Energy minister used the big occasion to pay homage to the Asantehene.Significantly, Napo officially introduce himself as the Energy Minister to the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool today.
He also announce his programmes, policies and plans to improve the energy sector to Otumfuo and the Asante chiefs.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu lamented that Dumsor has destroyed his appliances.
“For about three weeks to a month now, I know my son (Energy Minister) has been doing a lot of work, but I was there one time when there was a sudden cut of power. I try to rest and the power goes off, all my appliances have been destroyed.”
His Royal Majesty Otumfor also tasked the energy Minister, Napo to ensure that the Ameri power plant which the energy ministry has promised to relocate to Kumasi is done on time to make the lights stable.
The Energy Minister gave assurance that they will soon resolve the situation.
“We are working assiduously on the GRIDCo lines that have fallen. We cannot lie to you, we are asking you to support us with your prayer and love, I have nowhere to go, I won’t sit idle for power in Kumasi to be toyed with. We have just encountered difficulty, but soon, it will all be resolved,” Napo Said.
Napo, who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, was joined to the palace by other top dignitaries. Among the great personalities were the management of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Volta River Authority.
For the past three months now, the Ashanti Region of Ghana with Kumasi as it capital has been experiencing power cut (Dumsor).
