Assin North MP Files Two Fresh Applications At The High Court

Mr. Jame Gyakye Quayson has filed two fresh applications at the high court. Yesterday, Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata led Mr. James Gyakye Quayson in filing two different motions at the Cape Coast Court of Appeal. The embattled member of parliament for the Assin North Constituency Mr. James Gyakye Quayson has filed two motions at the Cape Coast Court of Appeal including seeking enlistment of his appeal. The other one is seeking a stay of execution of the high court judgment on July 8th, 2021. The court of appeal on March 22nd, 2022 struck out his motion notice for appeal on grounds of non-compliance with rules.

The High Court in Cape Coast had on July 28th, 2021 restrained the member of parliament for Assin North Constituency from performing parliamentary duties in a judgement that declared his seat vacant.

The Supreme Court has injuncted the member of parliament from parliamentary duties or roles. In the motion, for the enlistment of the appeal, his lawyers led by Tsatsu Tsikata contend that the first respondent himself has filed a rate invoking the original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court to interpret article 94 clause 2 subsection A of the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana.
