The deputy National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress, Edem Agban has reiterated that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo is a classical example of a dishonest politician.
He made this allegation when he was addressing some issues bordering on the current challenges in the country on the Newday show on TV3 yesterday, May 9, 2022.
Some Ghanaians have expressed pessimism over the economic situation of the country and accused the President of failing to fulfil most of the promises he made to Ghanaians over the years. The continuous price hikes in fuel prices and other utility charges have made things more difficult for the ordinary Ghanian and have accused the government of being insensitive to their plight.
The government through its communicators have indicated that the current war in Ukraine has largely contributed to the increment in fuel prices.
Edem Agbana speaking on the show reiterated that the government has failed on its mandate and must bear the responsibility instead of trying to lay blame on other people or factors. He indicated that prior to the war in Ukraine, fuel prices were increased several times. This, he blamed on the "dishonesty" of leadership.
"The government should be honest and bear responsibility for the challenges we are going through as a country. Russia and Ukraine's war is not the reason why we are here. Then-candidate Akuffo-Addo, prior to the 2016 and 2020 elections, made an emphatic promise to reduce fuel prices but has failed to do so. He is a dishonest politician and only lied to the people of Ghana just to win political power. President Akuffo-Addo is a classical example of a politician who is dishonest", he said.
He was of the view that most young people have become disappointed in the government as a result of its failure to deliver on the plethora of promises.
