The Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, last night left the shores of Ghana for New York, United States of America to participate in the United Nations Security Council Meeting.
Ahead of meetings with senior officials of the United Nations (UN), Dr. Bawumia will, on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, deliver a Statement during the Open Debate of the UN Security Council, to which Ghana was recently elected as a Non-Permanent member. Many Security issues facing the world are expected to be discussed with Russia's alleged attempts to invade Ukraine on top of the agenda.
Dr. Bawumia is also expected to hold discussions in Washington DC with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Africa, Ms. Molly Phee on strengthening the cooperation between the two countries on issues of mutual interest.
The Vice President after completing his assignments is expected back in the country on Friday, January 28, 2022.
