Former President of the Republic of Ghana and the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has replied critics of his Do or Die statement he recently made in an interview. Mahama has made it clearly known to Ghanaians that there is nothing wrong with his comment.
Recall, the former President has come under intense pressure from Ghanaians after he made some "disturbing" and 'divisive" comments during one of his Thank You tour interviews. Mr. Mahama made this statement when he was responding to questions on his numerous allegations against the Electoral Commission concerning the 2020 general elections.
In the said interview, John Dramani Mahama boldly declared that the NDC is ready to do anything to make sure that the next election is conducted flawlessly. He stated emphatically that it would be a do or die affair and the elections will be won at the polling station. The statement, which according to NDC Communications team, is a wake up call for vigilance during the elections.
Mr. Mahama has granted another interview and has been questioned on what he meant by the aforementioned statement. Surprisingly, Mr. Mahama registered his worry about how some Ghanaians have resorted to defamation against him. He stated that his comment explains itself and it would only take propagandists to twist his statement.
The host of the show however, asked if he is worried about how some Ghanaians have criticised his comment. According to Mahama, he has seen numerous reactions some even from members in his own party. He made this revelation in an interview on Moon Light radio morning show earlier today.
He said, "I do not retract any statements. I still insist it will be a do or die affair. What is so difficult to understand. It is an English word. Go and check your dictionary very well."
