Election 2020 is a daylight robbery and a scam - Sammy Gymafi

I know if not everybody will agree with me and testify that the 2020 election is one of a kind since Ghana resolved to democracy.

It was tense during the campaign season with the two main political parties thus the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition New Democratic Congress (NDC) throwing shades at it other back and forth.

Finally, 7th December arrived for the good people of Ghana to go out and cast their ballots to elect who will rule the nation for the next four years. Would it be the Incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo OR the opposition New Democratic Congress (NDC) led by the Former President John Dramani Mahama?

Upon the closure of polls and just when counting and collation of results were underway the two main parties NDC and NPP held back to back press conference declaring they have won. The NDC declared that the collation of results from their strong indicates they have won the majority of the parliamentary seats which clearly indicates their presidential candidate is also winning. The NPP on the other hand said the same.

Officially before the elections, the Electoral Commission made known their intention to declare the winner of the election under 24hours after the polls have closed.

Unfortunately, this promise couldn't be achieved as some incidents that occurred during the collation of results at some collation centers hindered the Electoral Commission headquarters from receiving some of the results.

However, on the day of declaration, the Chair of the Electoral Commission Madam Jean Mensah cleared the air on this issue and went on to declare His Excellency Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo as the president-elect.

Few hours after the declaration, the Minority Leader in Parliament Hon. Haruna Iddrisu held a press conference saying the National Democratic Congress won't accept the result of the election.

In the early hours of today, the Electoral Commission came out with a statement stating there was a mistake in the figure provided as the total number of valid votes as announced by its chair Madam Jean Mensah but also indicated in the statement that the mistakes in the figure provided won't have any effect on the declaration made.

In reaction to this, the national communication officer of the New Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi in a recent tweet on Twitter described the 2020 election as a daylight robbery and a scam, Madam Jean Mensah, and the Electoral Commission must be sued.
