There must always be a proper and good reason for an uprising and unrest in the society as seen in our nowadays world but history has in the very beginning of the mankind race. The zealots were a strict nationalistic movement. They were a Jewish patriotic party who spent most of their time secretly plotting to overthrow the Roman rulers by force. They probably had much of the same beliefs as the Pharisees.
The Jewish historian, Josephus says the founder of the zealots group was a man called JUDAS. He came from Galilee. This man led an uprising in AD 6, just about the same time Archelaus was sacked from office by the Roman Emperor. These two agreed in everything with the opinions of the Pharisees but they have a strong passion for freedom and they are convinced that God alone is to be their ruler and Lord. No fear can compel them to give this tittle to anyone (Jewish antiquities 18.1.6).
Simon Zelotes one of Jesus' disciple was part of these fanatical patriotic fighters.
Some people think Judas Iscariot was a member of the ZEALOT MOVEMENT. Judas was probably not a a member but judging from his great desire for Jesus to become the king of the Jewish against the Romans, he certainly portrayed the same feelings as the ZEALOTS.
