"Samuel Ofosu Ampofo at large, our security agencies must be up and running" this is a popular expression used by some Ghanaians who think if, something went wrong in the country concerning insecurity Samuel Ofosu Ampofo must be held accountable for it instead of the President. This ideal of certain Ofosu Ampofo is out there seeking to make the country ungovernable for the governing NPP, has been around in the run-up to the 2020 elections.
According to them, he has stationed hooligans across the country, formatting insecurity in shady ways just to make the Nana Akuffo Addo's government unpopular so that the NDC becomes popular. They seem unstoppable even in the absence of evidence linking Ofoso Ampofo to any incidence. These ludicrous claims makers even called the hand of Ofosu Ampofo in Ejura incidents last two weeks; as if that was not enough just a while ago, a video surfaced online purportedly showing the stabbing of Okada rider on Accra Nsawan highway, the suspect as usual who ordered the attack is again credited to venal Mr. Ofosu Ampofo.
The idea that Ofosu Ampofo has threatened national security with violence is hard to believe when in fact, thuds with direct links to the governing NPP known as the Delta Force physically invaded Kumasi Circuit Court to free 13 suspects, who were facing charges for causing mayhem at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council.
If you forcefully freed suspects in court it undermines the constitution, a serious crime if not treason. Nevertheless, the police say they are still investigating but they made no mention of Samuel Ofoso Ampofo as a suspect.
The claims that Samuel Ofosu Ampofo threatened to make this country ungovernable is hard to believe but that did not stop those making these claims to shut up. The laws of Ghana are firmed and crystal clear, it has the president as responsible for security forces in the country.
And for the benefit of the doubt, the president is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, meaning Samuel Ofosu Ampofo can be arrested according to law and jail if he is found to undermine the security of the country. This, in most cases, would amount to treason. So far no treasonous charges have been filed against Samuel Ofoso Ampofo.
Ejura violence and stabbing on the Nsawan highway are hard to believe as they know, there is no aorta of evidence to link Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to these claims. However, it appeared they will continue as far as Samuel Ofosu Ampofo remains a subject of investigation for an alleged leak tape he denied; if not politically motivated.
For me burning the midnight candles to make him looked bad in the eyes of the general public is like a calculated attempt to blame your neighbor for what happened in your room under lock and key.
And more, I borrow the words of Fiifi Kwetey that amount to a lazy man way of thinking.
