Different testimonies have for the past few days been pouring in for the late mother of Ghana’s Vice President, Hajia Mariama Bawumia. Her burial, saw a high-powered delegation from across the political divide storming Walawale to pay their last respect. It was a moment of sorrow for almost everyone when the coffin containing the body of the late Hajia Mariama Bawumia was finally lifted.
Her friends, family members, loved once and other sympathizers were full of tears and could not believe that she was finally gone. The politicians and other high dignitaries signed a book of condolence and tapped the shoulders of Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia asking him to remain strong, but there were childhood friends of the late Hajia Mariama Bawumia who did not have the opportunity to write their final statements to their playing mate and one of them is Hajia Hawa Issah.
Hajia Hawa Issah
If she had a pen and the condolence book, she would have written a long essay about her late friend. They both grew up as close childhood friends in the same neighborhood. They walked, danced, visited each other, and had no chances to live a day without having a chat together. Throughout their adolescent age, life was good whilst they were together with other friends until someone came for the hand of the late Hajia Mariama Bawumia in marriage. Unfortunately for her friends, the man decided to take her abroad and the late Hajia had no other option than to leave her friends and spend time with her husband abroad.
According to Hajia Hawa Issah, her late friend left them and traveled abroad because of marriage but she never forgot them. She later returned after visiting Mecca and remembered her friends. Hajia Hawa Issah is still trying to come to terms that her close friend is dead. To her, the late Hajia Mariama Bawumia was a true definition of a human being because even when she left them abroad, she continued to check up on them on regular basis and whenever she returns, a lot of goodies are made available to all of them. It is painful that she has lost her close friend to death but God knows best. May the soul of the late Hajia Mariama Bawumia rest in peace.
