I Am Begging That We Want The Freebies Again - Okudzeto Ablakwa Declares

Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia's lecture on digitalization in Ghana has obviously set a ground for debate. Reports from fact checkers have exposed some misleading claims he made in his presentation. Many other Ghanaians including analysts and members of the opposition National Democratic Congress have described the address as empty and unsustainable.

To add salt to injury, the prices of petroleum products keep increasing over the past weeks. Reports have indicated that, a litre of petrol now costs 6.90 cedis. Indeed, the high prices have become a national menace and calls have been made to the Economic management team led by Dr. Bawumia to intervene.

Earlier today, November 5, 2021, Dr. Randy Abbey interviewed Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Honourable Okudzeto Ablakwa and Managing Director of State Transport Cooperative, Nana Akomeah on Good Morning Ghana. It was a heated discussion when the issue of hike in fuel prices came up.

Honourable Okudzeto Ablakwa decried the failure of the Akuffo-Addo government to deliver the numerous mouthwatering promises they made on fuel when they were in opposition. He indicated that, Dr. Bawumia carved a niche for himself as the best economic manager, but has proven to be the worst in Ghana's history.

Speaking further, he bemoaned the high cost of goods in the market placing much emphasis on the recent upsurge in petroleum prices. He ridiculed the Akuffo-Addo- Bawumia government as a disaster to the Ghanaian economy. He explained that, the kind of hardship Ghanaians are facing is unprecedented and have never been seen before.

He said, "how do we keep quiet over the economic crunch we are been put into. It is the economic managers who should be held accountable. Ghanaians are expecting more because they saw what they did in the lead up to the elections. They were given free water, free electricity and reduced prices. What has changed that we cannot get them again. I am pleading to the government that we want the Freebies again."
