“The 5% growth rate, where are you manufacturing it from “ - Randy Abbey to Kamal-Deen Abdulai

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy National Communication team Kamal-deen Abdulai , has put himself into ridicule this morning on “Good Morning Ghana”, a daily show of Metro TV, on subjects related to the growth of our economy.

Indeed during the show, Mr Kamal-Deen, triggered that the growth rate expected during this year for the country would be around 5%, revelation that angered both the host Randy Abbey and his opponent on the platform Sammy Gyamfi.

Mr Randy Abbey proceeded to educate him on the matter in these words:  “the growth rate was 3.6% in 2016, 8% in 2017, 6% in 2018, 6.1% in 2019. In July, the finance minister came to parliament and explained that due to covid-19, we will have a growth of 0.9% and just last month he came back with a projection of 1.7% for this ending  December 2020”.

With the evidence exhibited, Mr Randy continued “ so the 5% you are talking about, where are you manufacturing it from? ”.

“Granted “ could Mr Kamal-Deen admit his mistake with a long politician unnecessary argument in his submission.

This is a very abracadabra situation for a top politician on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to go on a show like that without mastering properly the figures of our economy.

What is your take on this exhibition of great ignorance on the part of the New Patriotic Party deputy ?
