President Akufo-Addo during the days he was a candidate and aspiring to become President made some bold comments about President Atta Mills and Vice President, John Mahama concerning the rate of the United States Dollars to the Ghanaian Cedi. Candidate Akufo-Addo revealed that if he was Mahama and Mills, he would have apologized to Ghanaians for performing badly with the rate of the dollar to cedis.
This throwback video was when Akufo-Addo was coming to be elected as President before the 2012 elections. At the time, the rate of the dollar to cedis was, 1 dollar equals 2cedis. Akufo-Addo said in the said video that if he were them, he would’ve apologized to Ghanaians for a poor work done.
“ In the times of Kuffour, 1 dollar equals 1cedi. In the times of Mills and Mahama, 1 dollar equals 2cedis. If I was them, I would say to the people of Ghana that we are sorry for the poor work we’ve done. We are going to and think about ourselves but that is not the people are dealing with. The money under the table has become sweet for them so they are determined to stay but we won’t allow that to happen.” Candidate Akufo-Addo boldly revealed this at a party rally.
Today, Akufo-Addo is the President of the nation and the cedi has been depreciating rapidly. Currently as we speak, one needs 10 cedis to get 1 United States dollar. What’s your take on this article and the fact that the President has still not apologized to Ghanaians over the depreciating rate of the cedis??
