Ablakwa: "KT Hammond Terribly Wrong" on "young aren't fit to lead" assertion

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, has responded to remarks made by Kobina Tahir Hammond, a fellow politician, who claimed the young were unsuited for leadership.

At last Saturday's Global Citizen Festival, Hammond, 62, responded to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-jeers Addo by claiming that the youth lacked the knowledge necessary to govern the nation.

He argued that the jeers were undemocratic and pleaded with the young people to have patience and stop denigrating wise elderly people because of politics.

Ablakwa, who is 20 years younger than the Adansi-Asokwa MP, responded to the remarks by calling them an "outlandish falsehood."

He believed that young people had the right to both admire and criticize their leaders.

He wrote on Facebook: "The very people that praise us when leadership achieves favorable results do not deserve to be demonized when they voice displeasure with leaders for their appalling performance. K.T. Hammond is completely mistaken, and his assertion that young people aren't capable of taking on leadership roles is absurd.
