[Video] Check Out What Otumfuo Said To Akufo-Addo When He Visited Him Today In Manhyia

President Akufo-Addo started his Ashanti Regional tour of the country today and many expected him to address issues regarding galamsey. The Ashanti region is perhaps the region with the highest incidents of illegal mining. Despite the government claiming that it is fight galamsey, very little has been achieved. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has spoken on many times against galamsey but it seems like his words have gone unheeded to because according to him many who claim to be fighting galamsey are themselves involved.

In addressing the Asantehene and some of his chiefs today, Sunday, October 16, 2022, President Akufo-Addo pledged to end galamsey before he leave office. He admitted that there have been so many voices against galamsey and he hopes that by the time he leaves illegal mining would have been stopped. The President was in the company of some NPP big wigs like Chairman Wontumi, Kodua Frimpong, Nana Boakye, Simon Osei Bonsu among others.

It was expected that when it got to the Asantehene he will also speak on galamsey but this didn’t happen. In fact, at no point in his speech did he mention galamsey. All the Asantehene did was to pray for a successful tour of the president as he tours the region.

“My prayers are with you as the tour the region in the next few days. I pray that everything ends well for you. I thank you for coming. I pray everything goes well. Ghanaians voted twice for you so I hope you finish what you started and end your term on a good note” Otumfuo Osei Tutu said.

Many feel the refusal of the overlord of the Asante state to speak on galamsey shows that he himself is tired of what is going on. Few days ago, the Asantehene had boldly stated that the fight against galamsey from the government is full of lies. He explained that the same people who claim to be fighting galamsey are the very kingpins in illegal mining.
