The National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Sammy Gyamfi, made an appearance on Angel TVs Morning show, Anopa Bofo. He lamented on how the economy had worsened under the Nana Addo-Bawumia administration. Samuel Gyamfi believed that this was a result of their incompetence and poor management of the economy.
Sammy Gyamfi added that despite the plights of the Ghanaian citizen, this administration found it convenient to introduce abnormal taxes and reckless expenditure to worsen the earlier plights of the Ghanaian citizen. One such tax which he talked about was the famous 'borla' tax. According to him, these taxes were needless and added to their accumulated revenue which has yielded no visible achievements.
Nana Yaa Brefo rebutted Sammy Gyamfi's claim by bringing in how Mahama wanted to desilt the Odawna lagoon but could not do it due to a lack of funds. Therefore, Yaa Brefo saw the Borla tax as a nice initiative in solving that problem.
In response, Sammy Gyamfi asked Nana Yaa Brefo to name just one drainage which had been desilted this year using funds from that new tax.
"Stop defending the insensitivity of Nana Addo's administration. I dare you to name just one sanitation programme or drainage facility that has been desilted", Sammy Gyamfi to Yaa Brefo.
This question was not answered since in actual facts, no such project had been undertaken.
