Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Hon Okudzato Ablakwa has stated that a motion has been filed waiting for speaker's approval that people who are in possession illegally of our tax funds will be made to answer oneday.
According to him, the fact that finance minister have been withdrawing money from the state fund which is the Consolidated Fund to build the National Cathedral has been worst because he didn't pass through the right channel which he needs to account for it to Parliament
He disclosed that, they wrote a letter to Public Procurement Authority concerning the contractor who is building the National Cathedral that as PPA, they should have pass through certain process before handling contact to somebody. And when it was done on that process parliament will have gotten to know the handworks of the contractor, the amount to be collected after the construction and some information and status of the contractor but nothing of such happened.
Hon Okudzato Ablakwa said "they are receiving phone calls, come we want to build a cathedral, without records to Public Procurement Authority laws to the country. We want to serve notice that the judgement day is coming. Already we have filed a motion that is waiting for speaker's approval".
"We want a by-partisan probe, a full scale Parliamentary probe. We are also putting together all the documentations and I can tell you that it's very heavy, every single page is a scandal, is a breach, is an illegality and a day is coming that people will be made to answer and all those people who are in possession illegally of our tax funds will be made to refunds all those monies back to Ghanaians. And we want to serve notice that this practice cannot continue", he said.
