Four(4) Popular Members Of Parliament Who Are Chiefs Or Queens In Their Hometowns

In Ghana, most people do cherish chiefs, kings, and queens even more than some Politicians. It is believed that, chiefs and kings are there to stay forever but politicians are just temporal positions.

In today's article, let us look at some members of Parliament of Ghana who are chiefs or queens in their hometowns. Aside being a politician or a minister of state, some do hold chieftaincy positions in their hometowns.

Let us take a look at some.

#1. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu

The chiefs and people of Suame enstooled Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu as ‘Sompahene’ for his contributions to the development of the area. This position is to motivate him do more for the people of Suame. He visits the town during festive seasons as part of his obligation as a chief in the community. He is their MP and the current Minister for parliamentary affairs.

#2. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong happens to be the chief of two communities in the country. He is the "adoy3 hene" in Assin Dompin and also the development chief for Lawra Traditional Area. He is the member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency.

#3. Ursula Owusu

Ursula Owusu is the member of Parliament for Ablekuma West. She is the current development queen (Nkosuohemaa) of Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District of the Eastern Region. The offer was made to her by the chiefs and people of Asuom when she attended the 75th Anniversary celebration of Nana Yaa Anamah II, the longest serving queen mother of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area at Asuom on Saturday, 11th November, 2017.

#4. Dzifa Abla Gomashie

Dzifa is currently the parliamentary candidate of the NDC in the Ketu South Constituency and a queen-mother in the Aflao Traditional Area.
