It Is Not Our Responsibility To Teach John Boadu, Buaben Asamoa And Others English-Sammy Gyamfi

Former President John Dramani Mahama's "do-or-die" statement still remains topical in discussions in homes, workplaces, and the media space. It has been met with mixed reactions with comparisons to statements made by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo. John Mahama has reiterated that his statement does not connote violence as being suggested by his political rivals but only twisting it to score cheap political points. He maintains that the NDC has learned lessons in happenings in the 2020 elections and would ensure that the right things are done in the 2024 election.

The National Communications Officer of the National, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi has indicated that his Boss, former President John Dramani Mahama would not retract his "do-or-die" statement as his political opponents are demanding.

He made this revelation on Metro TV's "Good Morning Ghana" today September 9, 2021.

Sammy Gyamfi reiterated that the statement by John Dramani Mahama is "self-explanatory" and the meaning of it is not as members of the New Patriotic Party are claiming. He said those who are saying it connotes violence are either ignorant or are just being mischievous. He says the statement only means that the NDC is going to ensure that the right things are done in the 2024 general elections because the right things must be done and so whoever is not happy about the statement does not want the right things to be done.

He further indicated that whoever wants the right things to be done during elections should not have any problem with the statement by the former President.

"Do-or-die affair simply means; taking a huge risk to avoid failure", he asserted.

"Those who are saying it connotes violence are either ignorant or have chosen to spin what His Excellency John Dramani Mahama said for mischief purposes because the meaning is very clear. It is not our responsibility to teach anybody English. President Mahama is not going to give an English lecture to John Boadu and Yaw Buaben Asamoah and these NPP communicators that though they know the truth, have deliberately decided to spin what the former President said for mischief. We would not waste our time on that and he is not recanting that statement today, tomorrow, or forever because what he said is what the well-meaning people of this country want", he reiterated.
