Although the Majority in Parliament is known to be the decisions makers due to their numbers, the 8th parliament has changed the narrative.
Throwback to January 7, the parliament made history by electing a speaker of Parliament who is not a member of the ruling political party, this was a result of some New Patriotic Party Members of Parliament not being vigilant during the election of the speaker of Parliament.
The National Democratic Congress Members of Parliament declared itself as powerful since no political party members have been able to do so in the 4th republic.
The next occurrence was what happened during the debate for the passing of the budget issued by the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta, the NPP Members of Parliament used a mere incidence to boycott the parliament sittings.
This also gave the Minority the chance to make their own decision on the budget, they have again won against the Majority.
I think the New Patriotic Party members of parliaments should take important sitting very seriously because these two sittings were not supposed to have resulted in this way, but because of a little mistake, it went in the favor of the National Democratic Congress Members of Parliament.
This is gradually making the Minority Caucus the most powerful caucus in Parliament.
