The Finance Minister Must Honorably Resign - MP, Central Tongu

The Member of Parliament for the Central Tongu constituency, Alexander Gabby Hattordze, has indicated that the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, must honorably resign for authorizing the payment for the twenty thousand doses of the botched Sputnik v vaccines.

Alexander Gabby Hattordze made this statement on 'GH TODAY' on GHONE television when he called for Ken Ofori Atta to also resign for his role in the purchase of the Sputnik v vaccines.

According to Alexander Gabby Hattordze, the Health Minister decided to ignore the procurement laws. Particularly section 40 of the procurement laws of Ghana was flouted. More importantly, Article 181 clause 5 of the 1992 constitution, which empowers Parliament to give authorization to any international transaction was flouted.

"I will not say that only the Health Minister should resign, the Finance Minister ken Ofori Atta, who authorized payment for the twenty thousand doses must honorably resign because we are guarded by the laws of this country, and if those of us in authority who must live exemplary lives are not able to do so, then there is future for Ghana."

He indicated that the position of the minority is that the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, and Ken Ofori Atta must resign honorably.

He added that the statement made by President Akufo Addo about the Health Minister is unfortunate. It would have been better if he hadn't spoken about it all.
