The chairperson of the Ecowas Authority has organised a virtual meeting seven hours ago as at the time of this writing. The virtual meeting was expected to address certain developments that are going on in the neighbouring African countries. The most severe that has already befallen the African continent is the coup that was launched against the president of Guinea, Conde.
Guinea is currently under the control of its army who has seized power after alleging that the corrupt practices of its leaders have rendered a lot of its citizens in hardship.
The chairperson of the Ecowas Authority, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has earlier on released a statement ordering the army of Guinea to return to constitutional order, or face sanctions. Ghanaians and other Africans did not side with the president as they claim that Conde has manipulated the constitution in the first place.
A lot of Reactions from citizens from several African countries have hit the Facebook page of the president of Ghana, who doubles as the chairperson of the Ecowas Authority.
Reacting to the post, Narteh Emaahi has cautioned the Ecowas Authority to be proactive rather than being reactive. This Facebook user is of the view that the leaders of the Ecowas Authority were sitting aloof when the president of Guinea was manipulating the constitution to his favour after he has served for his full two terms of ten years duration each. It seems the citizens became fed up with his rule and therefore wholeheartedly welcomed the coup of the military against him.
Other users called the body corrupt, showing how they have lost trust in the body.
Tidiane who claims to be a citizen of Guinea has expressed their backing for the action of the military. It has earlier on been reported that even the leader of the opposition party that has contested against Conde has also approved of the take over of power of the military.
Jay has also called on the Ecowas Authority to forget any actions that they wish to take against the coup.
Do you think that the Ecowas Authority would stop the coup?
