Parliament has reconvened today after their break. And after the Speaker and leadership of Parliament gave their introductory remark, Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin clarified a statement he once made about the Supreme Court's ruling. It may be recalled that Alban Suman Kingsford Bagbin once said that he disagreed with the ruling of the Supreme Court about the voting right of the deputy speaker. Speaker Bagbin revealed today, whiles addressing the house that many people had understood him differently.
"I never stated in my remarks that many disagree with the Supreme Court's ruling. No. I said we may disagree with those decisions but we are bound by them and we may have to comply and obey. The platform that is being provided is not to interrogate the rulings or judgment of the Supreme Court", he explained.
From this, we can infer that Parliament will finally allow the deputy Speaker to vote whiles presiding and that the e-levy will still be collected.
