"Govt should do the right thing and settle this matter once and for all" - Toll Booth Workers Union

Former workers of Ghana's toll booths are embarking on a demonstration today, July 5, 2022.

According to the words of the Vice President of the Union who spoke to citi news, "the government should do the right thing and settle this matter once and for all."

According to the toll workers union, the government has not fulfilled any of his promises he made to them. They were promised to be reassigned and their salary arrears paid to them.

However, the over 600 former workers of toll booth say they have neither been reassigned nor their salary arrears paid to them hence their demonontration today, and they hope their protest will yield the necessary results.

"The government owes us by their promise", Mr Amati their Vice President said.

The toll workers were relieved of their jobs following a directive by the Government in November 2021 to suspend the collection of tolls on roads and bridges in the country.
