Akufo Addo's Desire To Buy A Luxurious Jet Will Not See The Light Of Day At Parliament - A. Suhuyini

The news currently making waves in the media space is that President Akufo Addo has plans to purchase a new presidential jet for the country.

Reacting to the alleged plans by the government to purchase a new presidential jet for the presidency on 'GH TODAY' on GHONE television, a Member of Parliament for the Tamale North Constituency, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, has indicated that President Akufo Addo's desire to buy a luxurious jet will not see the light of day at the corridors of Parliament.

According to Alhassan Suhuyini, he thinks the government of President Akufo Addo has exhibited a gross level of insensitivity to the plight of Ghanaians, and it is as if Ghanaians begged them to govern us, so they do things at their pleasure regardless of how we feel.

"The extravagance of President Akufo Addo's depletion of our public purse is just nauseating."

Alhassan Suhuyini revealed that President Akufo Addo, in the past, as an opposition leader criticized the then President J.J Rawlings for attempting to replace what at that time was described as a "flying coffin" He criticized the idea at that time and said it was needless because the country didn't have money.

Fast forward, the jet was eventually procured under President Kuffour's regime. All Presidents have been using it, and other African presidents, as the evidence shows are also using the jet.

Alhassan Suhuyini indicated that all of the sudden, President Akufo Addo's taste has become so sophisticated that the presidential jet that we have, which is in a good condition and enjoyed by other African Presidents, does not fit his taste anymore, so he has to rent a very expressive private jet for his foreign trips, and worse, even toy with the idea of buying such luxurious jet.

"Let's deal with it, the problem is not with the absence of a jet for the President of Ghana, but the problem is with the taste of the President."

Alhassan Suhuyini emphatically stated that they shouldn't even go beyond that address at the presidency when it comes to the idea to purchase a luxurious jet for the presidency because it will not even see the light of day at the corridors of Parliament.

He added that President Akufo Addo must be sensitive to what the Ghanaian workers are going through. He must be sensitive that Ghanaians can no longer buy kenkey for One Ghana cedis.
