After court ruling on Assin North; CID invites former Assin North MP for interrogation

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has invited Honourable Joe Gyakye Quayson, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, for interrogation.

The Assin North parliamentary seat became vacant, after the High Court in Cape Coast, presided over by Justice Kwasi Boakye, on Wednesday 28 July 2021, ruled to annul the 2020 parliamentary election results in the constituency; restraining Honourable Gyakye Quayson, from holding himself as a Member Parliament for the Assin North constituency, and also ordering for a by-election.

An information gathered from JoyNews page has revealed that, the embattled MP, Mr. Gyakye Quayson has been served with a letter to appear before the CID on August 3 or 6, 2021, for interrogation, following the recent complaint lodged by the Central Regional Secretary of the NPP (Mr. Richard Takyi Mensah), against the MP.

The Assin North constituency is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It is located in the Assin North district of the Central Region of Ghana. In the December 2020 election, Mr. Joe Gyaakye Quayson won the seat with 17, 498 (55.21%), against the New Patriotic Party candidate Abena Durowaa Mensah; 14,193 (44.79%).

As a neutral Ghanaian, do you think the embattled Assin North MP- Mr. Joe Gyaakye Quayson, needs to be invited by the CID, after the recent court rulings against him?
