A member of the eastern regional communication team for the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, who doubles as government spokesperson and hails from Somanya, Aboagye Edmond and affectionately called Citizen Aboagye, has revealed that the ongoing misunderstanding between the people of Krobo and the Electricity company of Ghana will highly affect the 2024 general election.
According to him, the situation if not handled as soon as possible will cost them the election and added that the situation erodes any achievements of the NPP in the Krobo bloc.
He made these sentimental statements in a phone interview with Obido on Radio 1's political Program (The Issues) when discussing the impacts of the impasse.
"These are not good times to be a party member here because every progress the party has made is been eroded by this continues outages here. It's a fact, nobody should sit somewhere and think this has nothing to do. NPP is gradually growing in the Krobo land and has seen vote appreciation since 1992 but this situation has the potential to affect our chances in the 2024 general election" - Citizen Aboagye.
Even as he believes everyone is directly or indirectly affected, Citizen Aboagye revealed that the NDC will capitalise on it to enhance their chances in 2024.
He called on government and authorities of the Electricity company of Ghana to fast-track their resolutions and restore power to them though the harm is already caused.
Citizens/Residents of the Krobo traditional area have their lights cut off for 10 days as the citizenry and ECG have failed to reach a consensus in their various meetings.
Though there were reports in the media to restore power on latest by Friday but a day before Friday, unknown faces cut down some light poles on the krobo land and that has eventually changed the decision to restore power.
However, the power distribution company said it is ready to resolve the power crisis facing the people of Lower Manya and Yilo Krobo Municipalities if the safety and security of their staff are assured.
