Collins Owusu Amankwah, a former NPP member of parliament (MP) for the Manhyia North seat, asserted that Mireku Duker, the deputy minister of lands and natural resources, is the target of an elaborate plot.
His remarks follow allegations that the Tarkwa Nsuaem Member of Parliament (MP) is heavily involved in illegal mining, often known as galamsey.
A few days ago, Nana Nyonwah Panyin IV, the chief of Dompim-Pepesa, said that Benjamin Kessie, the chief executive of Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Mireku Duker, and Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah indulge in galamsey.
Speaking about this on Peace FM's The Platform program, Collins Owusu Amankwah denounced the accusation and called it "sad."
According to Collins Owusu Amankwah, there's a grand scheme to thwart Mireku Duker's efforts, in other words, to prevent or spoil. He added that Mireku Duker made it clear that he's devoted to winning the galamsey fight.
"In order to make others think they are dirty, individuals simply want to malign him. Instead of demonizing such people, we should encourage them. It's sad," he said.
What do you think? I think he is right. After all, a lot of people are profiting from the illegal mining, which endangers our nation. In order to get rid of him by discouraging him, they will undoubtedly speak poorly of him. This will allow them to carry out their evil deeds.
