Why Are Chinese Men In Galamsey Treated Different From Ghanaians, When Arrested- Ghanaians React.

For over years now, the issues of illegal mining aka galamsey, in Ghana has not been fully resolved, since most people in the act hide in the forests and even partner with people with authority to destroy water bodies in the country and they go free without punishment.

Today, the news reported by the Ghana police service is that, a group of illegal miners have been arrested on the banks of River Oda in the Bekwai forest reserve. The river, which serves as a source of water to the Ghana water Company for distribution, has now become muddy due to the activities of these people. The report stated that, the people involved were mostly Chinese citizens and a national security operative called Yussif Fuseni, who were all heavily armed with guns have been arrested.

This has gotten the attention of most people on social media to comment on this matter. Most of them asked the police that, why is it that foreigners, who are into this galamsey are not dealt with properly but are freed because of their race but Ghanaians who are found in this act are arrested and jailed.

Some people also wrote that, most of the people in high places are the owners of those galamsey machines, so they can’t be arrested.

What do you think of these issues of galamsey in the country and how justice is being delivered in the country, when foreigners are involved? Let’s keep the conversation on going in the comments section below.
