[Video] Presidential Staffer Sends A Bold Message To The Russian Embassy Over Tweets Against Govt

In a recent rating, Standard and Poor downgraded Ghana’s economy to CCC+ and summarized it with a negative outlook. This S&P rating comes to add to a number of downgrades from other financial institutions like Moody’s and Fitch. Yet, the government have insisted that they have done nothing wrong and have rather blamed external forces for what is happening.

On The Big Issue on TV3’s New Day today, Monday, August 8, 2022, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Director at the Presidency in charge of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural development grew wild over consistent tweets from the Russian Embassy absolving themselves from why the Ghanaian economy is failing. The embassy has consistently stated that even before the Ukraine-Russian war, the economy was in a mess.

Dennis Aboagye refused that assertion and explained that the war has caused the economy to falter. He stated that the war even started before this year and this has brought the economy down. Looking directly into the camera, Dennis said he wanted to settle the matter and call on the Russian Embassy to end the attacks.

“This morning lets settle that matter once and for all. Russia supplied a list. Russian ambassador you are fighting Ukraine. We rely on you for certain goods and rely on Ukraine too for certain goods. So many other countries also rely on you for fertilizers etc. Because of your war the supply that you give us is being affected and because of the war the fertilizers that you produce to some of our other partners are also affected. Please stop tweeting and stop making it look that we are buying all our things from you” Dennis said.

It is amusing that Dennis was bold to look into the camera and send this message to the Russian Embassy forgetting that Russia isn’t obliged to sell to Ghana. In a country where leader preach about local production it is interesting that Dennis, a presidential staffer will sit and accuse the Russians for the war and call on them to stop tweeting at the Ghanaian government? Do you agree with Dennis or he overstepped his bounds?
