Recently, the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, had his take on how journalists were being attacked and in his delivery, he linked responsible journalism to the attacks. He believed that most of the journalists who were attacked had maybe acted irresponsibly.
"Is that what you are trying to tell us? That if a journalist is irresponsible, then he must be attacked. Because it sounds like that. So if that is not what you want to covey, you should not communicate that way. Because that is the impression which you created", he explained.
Kojo Yankson recounted how one of the Ghanaian journalists, Lateef Iddris moved to a police and was later attacked and harassed just because he asked the police what was he holding. Kojo Yankson queried Kojo Oppong Nkrumah if that was irresponsible journalism. He further questioned Oppong Nkrumah if Ahmed Suale was exhibiting irresponsible journalism and such he merited that attack?
