Fresh and interesting developments continue to emerge after the budget statement for the 2022 fiscal year was rejected by the Minority Caucus. One of the disturbing moments was when the majority group staged a walkout from the chamber after challenging the speaker's actions during the meeting.
As Parliament prepares to sit on the purported rejected budget tomorrow, Ghanaians anticipate the outcome. It will be a showdown in Parliament when the majority would try assiduously to undo what the minority claimed to have done by calling for another voting on the budget.
Earlier today, ace journalist and host of Metro TV's Good Evening Ghana show, Paul Adom-Otchere shared a statement on what would happen in Parliament tomorrow. According to Paul Adom-Otchere, the speaker Alban Bagbin clearly violated the constitutional provisions during the last meeting which saw the budget rejected.
According to the verbose Journalist, Rt. Hon Alban Bagbin acted contrary to all expectations and his actions cannot be justified by any reasonable words. He believes the speaker mishandled the proceedings as he could clearly avert it with his experience as a lawmaker. Paul Adom-Otchere predicts that the majority would do anything possible to cause changes to the budget and get it passed.
His statement further indicates that, the Haruna Iddrisu-led Minority Caucus would stage a walkout over the budget. He explains that a walkout is bound to happen because the NDC MPs would not agree with what the majority would present in the meeting. According to Paul, Honourable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu is taking all steps necessary to get the budget passed.
The statement sighted on his official Facebook page read that, "....The Majority would seek to undo the events of last Friday, the minority may stage a walkout. Has the NPP got what it takes to undo that and get it passed?"
